The Valley Jazz Orchestra is Lebanon Valley College's premiere big band, performing a variety of contemporary jazz-related styles. First organized in 1960 as the "LVC Jazz Band" by students of the music fraternity Phi Mu Alpha, this group has toured, performed at festivals, and hosted several notable jazz artists at their annual spring jazz concert over the years.
For over 30 years, the band was directed by Tom Strohman, now emeritus professor at LVC! Jeff Lovell and Justin Morell have been co-directing the band since 2019. This past fall, the band released their first album, Vicious Fishes, featuring the music of Dr. Morell and special guest artists. The album can be streamed on all major online platforms and a limited number of vinyl copies are available for sale!
Please consider supporting future jazz events and programming at LVC by donating to The Strohman Fund for Jazz Studies, which was made possible by a generous gift from local jazz enthusiast and friend of The Valley, Rich Wengert. Gifts towards this fund support student exposure to professional jazz musicians, networking opportunities, cultural experiences, and more!
Rich has offered to match all gifts to the fund up to $25,000!
