We're getting ready for the next Jana!
In the spring of 2020, amid economic turmoil, Jana was five months into her first year of medical school, struggling with the possibility of abandoning her education due to financial strain. Despite receiving maximum financial aid from LAU, her family could no longer cover the remaining costs. In need of help, Jana reached out online and found LAU alumna Hiba Yazbeck, who, along with her husband Chady, stepped in to pay her tuition fees. Their support allowed Jana to continue her studies. Over the years, Hiba and Chady formed a bond with Jana and supported her through her journey. Four years later, they celebrated her graduation as a medical doctor, and now Jana is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Cleveland Clinic.
In honor of the LAU Centennial, Hiba and Chady have created The Jana Fund, a scholarship fund that will last forever so brilliant and ambitious students like Jana can make their dreams come true. Hiba and Chady wanted to make sure the seeds they planted by sponsoring Jana would grow into a strong and lasting commitment to LAU students.
They have already donated over $13,500 to get us started!
This is an endowed scholarship fund, so the proceeds will be used every year for student scholarships while the principal remains safe permanently. This way we will always be sure to be ready for the next Jana.
Can you help us with this goal? Hiba and Chady have agreed to match the next $3,000 contributed to The Jana Fund!
Please note: If you wish to make a gift from a charitable trust or to make a wire transfer, please let us know in advance so we can be sure to record and acknowledge your donation.
