LAU Alumni Legacy Scholarship Campaign

Thanks to an amazing effort by our alumni and friends, we have reached a total of $30,999!  Added to the donations at our LAU Legacy Scholarship Gala, we've now raised over $1 million for student financial aid. Thank you all for your generosity.

We have a few hours left! Friends can still donate, even if they didn't graduate from LAU-- just select the local LAU alumni chapter in the "Affiliations" tab. Let's see if we can reach a new stretch goal of $35,000!

WE DID IT! $20,000 from our loyal alumni and friends, a remarkable achievement. But you know more than anyone how much financial aid is needed, and we still have a little time left. Can you help us meet a stretch goal of $25,000? Every dollar donated will go directly to the LAU Alumni Legacy Scholarship Fund for student scholarships.

Just a few shots from a spectacular night at the LAU Legacy Scholarship Gala in New York!

In the true Lebanese way, we gathered to celebrate LAU at Atamian Hovsepian Curatorial Practice in Manhattan. Thank you so much to Ed Shiner and the rest of the LAU Staff, our hosts at the gallery, and to our fearless leader Fadi Broumana. Alumna Aminy Audi will match any donations credited to the New York/New Jersey Chapter up to $5000. Anyone can donate on behalf of NY/NJ, so let's keep those donations rolling in!

Thank you for joining us at the BBQ PICNIC PARTY! It was an absolute pleasure to have you in attendance & your presence made the day truly unforgettable, especially with Ed Shiner - Director of Alumni & Special Projects LAU NY - among us. We are delighted to witness the formation of connections & the establishment of new memories. Without your support & commitment to our LAU Alumni community, we could not have made it such a memorable event. 

In fact, for the past few years, the Lebanese American University in Lebanon increased financial aid budgets to cater for an increasing number of students who were no longer able to continue their studies. Together, we can create a supportive & vibrant community that celebrates our shared heritage & the values instilled in us by LAU. 

Huge thanks to Haifa Fakih, Noushin Maktabi and Robert Badawy for organizing this lovely event in support of the Legacy Scholarship Campaign. 

Seattle area alumni, family and friends came together at Cafe Louvre to celebrate LAU. Donations are still coming in, but the current total is $2060 just from this event! More photos can be found here.

Don't forget- you can share this campaign with friends and family in your area to increase the amount credited to your local Alumni Chapter at the Gala. Every dollar counts and will make a big difference to an LAU student in Lebanon.

The Montreal Chapter gathered for a rooftop happy hour on July 5. We love hearing about these alumni events! As E-Communications Coordinator for the Montreal Chapter Karen Naaman said, "Together, we can create a supportive and vibrant community that celebrates our shared heritage and the values instilled in us by the Lebanese American University."

Happy hour at Tall Ship Boston provided our New England Chapter a chance to reunite and organize. After a short hiatus, this chapter has come back stronger than ever!

Detroit alumni joined Dr. Mawad for lunch, where they were able to ask him questions and talk about the future of the university. Special thanks to alumni leader Hiba Yazbeck for all of her hard work in Detroit on behalf of LAU!

In the fall of 2021 LAU received an unprecedented outpouring of generosity from the Peoria Riverfront Museum, the Itoo Society, and the community of Peoria, Illinois. LAU President Dr. Michel Mawad recently visited the community to thank the many people who came together to host an art auction and fundraising concert called From Peoria to Lebanon, all to support financial aid at Lebanese American University.

DC Alumni and friends sampled Lebanese food and wine and were entertained by singer Fadi Jano at Villa Yara. We're so grateful to alumni leader Faten Saliba for organizing this lovely fundraising brunch on behalf of the LAU Alumni Legacy Scholarship Campaign!

Dr. Ramzi Salti from Stanford University spoke on exciting trends in Lebanese music. Thanks to our alumni and friends in Northern California for donating the proceeds of this event to the Legacy Scholarship Fund!
