On August 4, 2020, the entire world witnessed the devastating explosion in the port of Beirut that caused unfathomable loss of life, permanent injuries, and widespread homelessness to the people of Lebanon. Hospitals were damaged and overwhelmed. The medical centers that managed to stay open continue to suffer from shortages and backlog exacerbated by the financial crisis gripping the country, making medical supplies scarce and patient costs difficult to cover. The Lebanese-American community in Peoria has come together to organize a remarkable effort to provide much-needed relief.
A multi-tier benefit for LAU and the LAU Medical Centers, From Peoria to Lebanon springs from the generosity of Dr. Tony Karam, the Peoria Riverfront Museum and the Scottish Rite Theatre. With an art exhibition, an art auction, and a concert by acclaimed pianist Dr. Tony Karam, this unprecedented collaboration seeks to raise relief funds for LAU Medical Centers and the Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine.
Please check the "Updates" section below for more information about the many events and opportunities to give. The art auction site can be viewed at bit.ly/PeoriaToLebanonArt. Dr. Tony Karam's concert will be broadcast live here on Sunday December 19, 2:30 CST. Thank you for supporting our effort to send love and help From Peoria to Lebanon!

Thank you to all who bid in our auction, which closed last night. We'll do some calculations on the actual figure raised, but by all accounts it was a great success. The exhibition continues at the Peoria Riverfront Museum until January 9, so if you're in the area, stop by and check it out!

Dr. Karam has been invited to give additional performances in Lebanon before travelling to Peoria in December. We're so grateful for his advocacy for LAU and for many causes in Lebanon!

We're honored to be mentioned in this wonderful article about Fadia Ahmad's film, "Beirut, the Aftermath."
"The film will be presented from November 30th to January 9th at the Peoria Riverfront Museum and Scottish Rite theater as part of a benefit supporting recovery efforts through the Lebanese American University Medical Centers. There will also be a concert at the event by accomplished pianist Dr. Tony Karam. In tandem with the showing, the Peoria Museum will feature a solo exhibit showcasing a photography series by Ahmad released as a companion to “Beirut, the Aftermath”, highlighting through pictures the major themes of her documentary."
