School of Allied Health Professions Excellence Fund

The School of Allied Health Professions Fund is the unrestricted, undesignated discretionary fund of the School of Allied Health Professions Dean and school leadership can use to meet immediate needs within the school. The fund provides resources to key areas across disciplines that help students excel. Provide resources and help Allied Health students achieve success!

The Stanley H. Abadie Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to deserving students in any department who displays academic excellence.

Cardiopulmonary Science (Cardiovascular Sonography, Respiratory Therapy)

The Department of Cardiopulmonary Science educates students in cardiovascular sonography or respiratory therapy, which are both in great demand. Cardiovascular sonographers work in cardiac sonography, vascular technology, or both. With all the knowledge and training in pulmonary medicine, respiratory therapists possess, they specialize in adult critical care, neonatal/pediatrics, sleep disorders, pulmonary diagnostics, asthma education, or air/ground patient transport. Support Cardiopulmonary Science and help provide equipment to allow students to practice specialized aspects of cardiac and vascular ultrasound exams or ventilator management and lung function testing when you give GOLD geaux purple!

Communication Disorders (Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology)

The Department of Communication Disorders at LSUHSC SAHP is home to the first approved audiology doctorate program (Au.D.) program in Louisiana. We are also home to a Masters’ degree program in Speech-Language Pathology (MCD). Support COMD and help us provide professional development opportunities for our faculty and assistantships for our students when you give GOLD geaux purple!

Counseling

The Counseling program provides professional education and clinical experience to master’s level students who are committed to serving persons of all ages, including diverse backgrounds, that have challenges related to mental, physical, developmental, cognitive, and emotional disabilities. Support the Counseling program when you give GOLD geaux purple!

Medical Laboratory Science

The Department of Medical Laboratory Science educates students to perform high-complexity analytical laboratory testing used in medical and forensic laboratories. The program trains students in the disciplines of Microbiology, Hematology, Blood Banking, Chemistry, Parasitology, Mycology, Urinalysis, Molecular Biology, Immunology, and Serology. Supporting Medical Laboratory Science can help us provide Advanced molecular and genetic testing equipment and Advanced teaching microscopes. You can help provide resources for students when you give GOLD geaux purple!

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy continues to be an essential part of a person’s habilitation and rehabilitation from illness, injury, or a congenital condition. As the science to improve quality of life strengthens, occupational therapy is moving rapidly toward increased community practice with non-traditional populations and settings, including wellness opportunities, programming for underserved populations, and early intervention in primary care. Support Occupational Therapy and help provide equipment to improve students’ clinical skills to treat pediatric clients and pay honorariums to guest lecturers from community practice settings when you give GOLD geaux purple!

Physical Therapy

The Department of Physical Therapy trains students to provide physical therapy services across a patient’s lifespan. The mission of the program is to develop graduates with clinical skills in physical therapy that includes physical therapy diagnosis, clinical reasoning, program planning, therapeutic interventions, and patient education. Support Physical Therapy and help provide updated equipment to allow students to practice specialized aspects of physical therapy patient care when you give GOLD geaux purple!

Physician Assistant

The Department of Physician Assistant Studies trains future healthcare providers to conduct physical examinations, diagnose and treat illnesses, assist in surgery, manage chronic conditions, perform medical procedures, and educate patients. The program prepares students with the knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide medical care to patients across their lifespans. Help us provide Point-of-Care ultrasound training for the students, Simulated/“real” patients, and an Electronic medical record program for students with your support when you give GOLD geaux purple!
