“Kutztown University Give Students a Chance Fund”
- Reducing hidden costs for future educators
Becoming a teacher is a calling—but for today’s students, it comes with significant hidden costs that tuition does not cover: state-mandated clearances, travel to student teaching and clinical placements, professional clothing, and other required expenses just to step into a classroom.
The KU Give Students a Chance Fund is open to any undergraduate student studying education with the purpose to assist with expenses that directly impact their learning experience and ability to participate in conferences, practicum, student teaching, and other experiential learning opportunities.
How This Fund Supports Future Teachers
Gifts directly support essential, out-of-pocket expenses, including:
🌸 State-required clearances (approximately $75 per student)
🌸 Transportation to student teaching, practicum, and field placements
🌸 Professional clothing and required supplies
🌸 Other experiential learning costs unique to teacher preparation
Covering these expenses allows students to focus on learning to teach—not on how they’ll afford the next requirement.
Help us reach a $25,000 goal to provide support to future teachers for many years to come! If we can reach a level of endowment, this fund will award $1,250 per year to student teachers. That’s providing 17 students awards to cover the cost of clearance fees needed to enter the classroom.
Imagine if we could grow this fund to cover additional expenses to all student teachers?
Let’s begin to sew the seeds of philanthropy with the “KU Give Students a Chance Fund” during KU Blossoms!
Make a gift, and join us in our commitment to excellence in educator preparation!
