Support Women's Track & Field at K!
This academic year, Kalamazoo College will compete in four new varsity sports—men’s and women’s indoor track & field, and men’s and women’s outdoor track & field! Getting to this point has been a large undertaking and several noteworthy accomplishments have already taken place:
- 75 student-athletes have been assembled for these seasons of competition. 30 of these student-athletes were recruited as part of this year’s incoming first-year class.
- A track & field record board has been purchased and will be installed in Anderson Athletic Center.
- Additional lockers have been purchased and will be added to the existing cross country locker rooms.
- Rachel Hickey was hired as a full-time assistant track & field coach and recruiting coordinator. She will oversee training for the sprints and hurdles.
- The Hornet Track & Field team have competed in four indoor meets thus far and have been slated to finish 5th in the MIAA in the pre-season polls.
The future is bright and there is excitement about what these teams can accomplish. However, there is still work to be done and financial support to be raised. For the launch of this initiative to be robust and successful, your generosity will support:
- Assisting with travel costs for the first track & field spring break trip, which includes competitions at Emory University and Washington University-St. Louis, in addition to training in Florida between competition weekends.
- Equipment purchases for throwing event implements.
- Increased access to high-quality recovery and sports medicine modalities.
Please consider supporting us as we embark on the team's official relaunch of training and competition. Your generosity will help provide our student-athletes with a rewarding and competitive collegiate athletic experience.
Go Hornets!
