Support Cross Country at K!
Hello, Kalamazoo College Cross Country faithful!
This fall we welcomed 14 new student-athletes to the program and recruiting has been quite fruitful with the addition of track & field coming officially next academic year. We had an outstanding 2024 season and have taken time to reflect on the highlights of the past year:
- Both teams had runner-up finishes at the Knight-Raider Invite hosted by Calvin and finished in the upper half of the field at the Pre-National meet in Terre Haute.
- The Women’s teams placed 3rd at the 2024 MIAA Championships, the highest finish since 2008.
- Paige Anderson was the MIAA individual conference champion earning the MIAA Most Valuable Runner accolade and 1st team All-MIAA. Ava King and Nora O’Leary earned 2nd team All- MIAA honors.
- The Men’s team placed 4th in the MIAA for the second consecutive year, but moved significantly closer to the top 3 in the scoring.
- Both teams earned All-Academic Team honors from the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association with four student-athletes earning individual honors.
- The men's team finished 19th in the NCAA Great Lakes Region, up 14 places since 2022. This is the highest NCAA regional finish since 2006.
- The women's team finished 8th in the NCAA Great Lakes Region. Paige Anderson earned All-Region for the 3rd consecutive season with her runner-up finish First-year Ava King finished 24th to also receive All-Region designation.
- Senior Paige Anderson ran the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive year and placed 11th in the country to garner All-American honors and the 2nd highest NCAA finish ever by a Kalamazoo College Women’s Cross Country runner.
With a program on the move and growing each year we have identified some areas of need:
- Support for transportation costs for travel to proposed 2025 meets in Kentucky and South Carolina;
- Providing student-athletes with cold weather gear for competition in the later championship meets;
- Enhanced nutrition following practice and competition to aid with recovery.
Please consider making a gift in support of Kalamazoo College XC and our student-athletes. Your generosity will assist our student-athletes in having a rewarding and competitive collegiate athletic experience.
Thank you for taking an interest and Roll ‘Nets!
