Gifts to Campus Ministry contribute to...
Thank you for supporting Campus Ministry during JCU's Day of Giving. This year, Campus Ministry is raising funds in support of the Civil Rights Pilgrimage. This Civil Rights pilgrimage, rooted in our Ignatian tradition of being ‘contemplatives in action,’ will grapple with the question of how do we make our love of justice and equality for all people a reality.
Pilgrimage is an ancient tradition of spiritual practice of seeking a deeper understanding of a particular issue. This journey will focus on witnessing and reflecting on the history of the Civil Rights movement. As pilgrims, we leave the familiar comforts of home to seek both a personal and communal transformation in light of the footsteps of those Civil Rights leaders who have created their own pathways to justice and equality for all those in the United States.
This journey is a living encounter with the people, places, and stories that still call us to the work of justice and courageous discipleship. These places, from Atlanta, Montgomery and Selma, by traveling through the stories of Martin Luther King Jr, Rosa Parks, and countless others, invite the participants to ground themselves in the wisdom of those who have come before and to recommit to shaping a more just and beloved community in light of the ongoing fight against structural inequality and racism.
