Gifts to Men's Club Soccer contribute to...
Hello everyone and thank you for visiting our Day of Giving page!
Men’s Club Soccer at John Carroll University is one of those clubs that quietly represents JCU every weekend, but we sometimes get overshadowed by the bigger teams on campus. We compete in the MASC East, which is currently the only competitive club league available to us, and it’s stacked with much larger schools like Cincinnati, Miami (OH), Ohio State, and Ohio University. Those schools have club programs with deeper talent pools and bigger budgets; meanwhile, our roster is built on grit, leadership, and guys who simply love the game.
Right now, our love for club soccer at JCU comes with the constant hardships of acquiring the money, just to play. Our budget is limited, so players routinely pay out of pocket for essentials: League costs, referees (often around $300 per game in this area), gas and long drives for away matches (including trips as far as Oxford, Ohio), equipment replacements, and even jerseys—because the club has to coordinate and purchase those supplies ourselves.
On top of that, we’re proud to be a diverse team that includes a majority of French exchange students and other students who may not have reliable transportation or the financial flexibility to cover dues, which can make participation harder than it should be.
That’s why our club during Day of Giving: is simply asking for stability. Our baseline goal is $500 to help cover MASC league costs for next year, and any additional support directly reduces the burden on players and helps us meet basic needs like officials and uniforms. If we hit (and exceed) that support, the impact is huge: We can stop scrambling to “just survive” each season and start building—purchasing training equipment, improving player development, and even working toward scheduling more appropriately matched competition so our team morale doesn’t get crushed by constant 8–1 blowouts.
We’ve shown what JCU character looks like, like when we beat CSU 3–1 in their dome with a diverse set of scorers and real unity. We want more moments like that, and your gift helps make them possible.
Thank you all!
