About

The Counseling Learning Lab at John Carroll University is an innovative training space designed to prepare the next generation of professional counselors. As the need for mental health services continues to grow across our communities, it is critical that counseling students receive hands-on training in an environment that mirrors real clinical practice.

The Learning Lab will serve as a state-of-the-art training facility where graduate counseling students can develop the skills necessary to provide ethical, compassionate, and effective care. This space will allow students to practice counseling techniques, participate in supervised clinical experiences, and engage in simulated and real client interactions in a supportive learning environment.

Funds raised during the Day of Giving will directly support the development of this space through:

Clinical Technology: recording equipment, secure telehealth platforms, and supervision technology that allow faculty to observe and train students in real time

Furnishings: comfortable counseling furniture, group therapy seating, and therapeutic environments that mirror professional counseling offices

Training Infrastructure: observation rooms, soundproofing, and learning tools that enhance student feedback and skill development

Technology Integration: computers, software, and clinical documentation systems used in modern counseling practices

The Learning Lab will provide students with an immersive, experiential learning environment where they can build confidence and competence before entering the field. This hands-on training helps ensure that graduates are fully prepared to meet the mental health needs of individuals, couples, and families in our communities.

Your support will help us create a space where future counselors learn, grow, and develop the skills needed to change lives.

Together, we can invest in the next generation of mental health professionals.
