In the Engineering Physics Program, we see how a John Carroll education impacts each student we help on a daily basis.
Funds from this year's Day of Giving will go towards building the Advanced Engineering Applications Laboratory, a new engineering lab which will provide students with hands-on experience with fundamental engineering principles and equipment. In particular, we are looking to purchase an industrial-grade robotic arm, which students will use to study controls engineering and programming, and a universal materials testing machine, with which students will explore the mechanics and failure of solids.
This new laboratory is a central part of our effort to modernize and revamp our Engineering Physics curriculum in pursuit of ABET accreditation, which we plan to apply for in 2025. The hands-on experiences that students will receive in this advanced, interdisciplinary laboratory will provide them an edge as they enter their careers in the 21st century.
