Department of Education

In the Department of Education, we prepare our John Carroll pre-service student teachers to use children's literature in the classrooms they are working in, to teach children how to read, understand the potential of texts across all content areas, and support young learners in their literary development. In order to provide this learning opportunity both for our JCU student teachers and also our young learners we are working with, we are seeking high-leveled reading materials and quality children's literature for this year's Day of Giving. Gifts made to the Department of Education will be used to support this initiative and will allow for our JCU pre-service teachers to develop strong intervention plans, provide access to our students for guided reading groups, and help JCU students teach children to read and instill in them a deep love of learning.
