The Counseling Department is seeking to support student engagement and professional development for counseling students during this year's Day of Giving. We hope to host a speaker series for the Department of Counseling on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). DBT is an evidenced based treatment modality that has shown to be effective with many behavioral health disorders. The Counseling Department would like to offer DBT as a workshop for our students to assist them in gaining additional clinical skills in the areas to assist clients with reducing self-harm behaviors. This one day workshop would be led by an expert in the field of counseling and DBT.
Additionally, the department would like to support graduate students with an on-campus residency during their program to foster their acclimation to the program, learn about John Carroll and meet other students studying in the program. We are hoping to raise money to support facilitator fees, training materials, and accommodations.
Thank you for your support of the Counseling Department and our students!
