Department of Classical and Modern Languages and Cultures

The Department of Classical and Modern Languages and Cultures (CMLC) is seeking to enhance learning and build community through "InterACTIVE Cultures" for this year's Day of Giving campaign. 

In 2023, we renovated three learning spaces and relaunched an initiative, "InterACTIVE Cultures". Supported through donor funds, we aim to create programming for our JCU, CMLC students through the InterACTIVE Cultures initiative. InterACTIVE Cultures promotes cultural understanding and creativity through active engagement using cultural products, practices, and perspectives. We also seek to engage with and support local and international linguistic and cultural communities through events we host. Our programming ranges from cultural events to developing new, hands-on courses. This year we are planning an origami demonstration, multilingual concert performance, and new courses in Latin dance and Spanish theater.
