Generations of John Carroll University students have made service to others a hallmark of their time at JCU. From student-run organizations like Sodality, Iota Chi Upsilon, and Circle K, to departments like the Center for Community Service and now, the Center for Service-Learning and Social Action, JCU students have continued the tradition of contributing to and learning from the Cleveland community through their relationships with others.
The Center for Service-Learning and Social Action (CSSA) fulfills the Jesuit mission of educating "Women and Men for and with Others" by providing community-engaged, high-impact service-learning opportunities to all students at JCU. This year your donation to CSSA will help support and grow the following programs:
- Transformative opportunities to learn and serve in Greater Cleveland-this includes 96 weekly service-learning opportunities and 75 longstanding community partnerships
- Research-driven, high impact, student-led programs-such as Carroll Reads Early Literacy Program, Carroll Ballers Program at the Juvenile Detention Center, and Carroll Calculates-Math Tutoring Program
- Student leadership and professional development programs-JCU Summer in the City Internship Program, CSSA Student Leadership Team, Student Liaison Leadership Training Program Attendance and presentations at regional and national conferences
- Civic Engagement Programs-JCU Democracy Fellows, Voter registration and education
Your gift of any amount will provide opportunities for JCU students to serve and learn from others, cultivate leadership abilities, develop career-ready skills, and build community through relationships. Thank you for your support on Day of Giving to help JCU students become the change-agents, community builders, and ethical leaders needed in today's world.
