Gifts to Russert Department of Communication contribute to...
The Tim Russert Department of Communication would like to encourage our majors’ professional development by offering microgrants to students. Professional development is key to students’ preparation for their careers. We want to encourage students to participate in things such as Engage! Cleveland events, Public Relations Society of America networking, student presentation of research, and more. Connecting students with events such as these is a great opportunity for them to network with young professionals, learn more about career areas, and more!
The department is already seeing benefits from a renewed commitment to undergraduate research and will need funds for assisting students in presenting their work. The commitment to starting original research in COM 304 and completing it in either of the concentration senior theory courses should provide some high quality original research. The research team put together by Dr. Emelu is a second avenue for undergraduate research, and we are already seeing benefits, as in Veronique Nlandu's EDUCAUSE Professional Pipeline Scholar. We hope to send students to conferences like the St. Thomas Undergraduate Communication Research Conference. Funds to assist this development will be important.
Thank you for inspiring the future of our students!
