About

Orientation is often a student’s first moment of feeling like they truly belong at Hunter College. For many new students, especially first-generation and commuter students, orientation is the first time someone walks them through what college really looks like, answers unspoken questions, and reassures them that they are not alone. It transforms uncertainty into confidence and a large, urban campus into a place that feels navigable and welcoming.

Your Giving Day gift directly supports:

  • In-person and virtual orientation experiences that meet students where they are.
  • Peer Orientation Leaders who serve as trusted guides and role models.
  • Family and supporter programming, including multilingual sessions.
  • Resources that help all students feel connected from day one.
  • These early connections matter. Students who feel supported and informed at the start are more likely to stay engaged, ask for help, and succeed.

Hunter students bring extraordinary talent, resilience, and ambition. But many are balancing work, family responsibilities, and long commutes, and may be the first in their families to attend college. Orientation helps level the playing field by building community, demystifying college systems, and sending a powerful message: You belong here, and we are invested in your success.

By giving to Orientation on Giving Day, you are helping shape a student’s first experience at Hunter and setting the tone for everything that follows.
