About

At Hunter’s School of Health Professions (SHP), we are preparing the next generation of healthcare leaders to meet the evolving needs of New York City... and beyond. Bringing together Nutrition and Public Health, Physical Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology, SHP offers a uniquely interdisciplinary approach to health education. Our students are not only trained as skilled clinicians, but as compassionate professionals equipped to address the broader social, environmental, and nutritional factors that shape health outcomes.

Through hands-on clinical training, simulation-based learning, and interprofessional collaboration, students gain real-world experience working across disciplines, just as they will in today’s complex healthcare environments.

Beyond the classroom, SHP is deeply embedded in the communities it serves. In East Harlem and surrounding neighborhoods, students and faculty are working alongside local partners to tackle food insecurity, expand access to care, and promote chronic disease prevention. These efforts don’t just enhance student learning—they directly improve the health and well-being of our neighbors.

With your support this Giving Day, SHP can continue to expand its impact. Philanthropy helps:

  • Provide scholarships for students balancing rigorous academic programs with work and family responsibilities
  • Fund hands-on training through simulation labs and clinical experiences
  • Support the development of community-based clinics and health initiatives
  • Create opportunities for students to present research and attend professional conferences

For many of our students, many of whom are the first in their families to pursue higher education, these opportunities are transformative. Your gift helps ensure that Hunter students are not only prepared to enter the healthcare workforce, but to lead it. With skill, empathy, and a deep commitment to health equity.
