About

At Hunter College, we believe education is a powerful pathway to opportunity and a force for justice.

The Center for Impact Justice is a bold, college-wide initiative supporting students impacted by the criminal legal system. These are students who have experienced incarceration directly or through their families, and who arrive at Hunter with resilience, determination, and extraordinary potential.

Your support helps bridge the future for these students.

Through a healing-informed, community-centered approach, Impact Justice provides the wraparound support students need to thrive, from their first day on campus through graduation and beyond. This includes:

  • Peer mentorship grounded in shared lived experience
  • Academic and career advising to keep students on track
  • Leadership development that turns lived experience into civic power
  • Access to essential resources like financial aid navigation, counseling, and basic needs support
  • Community-building programs that foster belonging and reduce stigma

Impact Justice doesn’t just support students. It builds a community. With dedicated spaces on campus and partnerships with organizations across New York City, the program creates a network of care, connection, and opportunity.

This work is about more than access to education. It’s about repairing harm, advancing equity, and reimagining what’s possible, for individuals, families, and communities.

On Giving Day, you can help ensure that justice-impacted students don’t just enroll at Hunter. They graduate, lead, and thrive.
