About

We are living in a time of rapid change. Shifts in policy, public funding, and the environment are reshaping communities, economies, and the decisions individuals make about work, health, and where to live. These challenges make the work of geography and environmental science more important than ever. Our faculty and students study the complex connections between people and the environment, help anticipate change, and apply knowledge to inform policy and advance solutions that create a more just and sustainable future.

From rising global emissions to local public health and geophysical challenges here in New York City, the issues we tackle have real-world impact. Yet support for environmental research is increasingly constrained, and opportunities for students to engage in hands-on fieldwork, research, and professional development depend on philanthropic investment.

Support enables scholarships, research opportunities, and experiential learning that prepare students to lead in an uncertain world. Every contribution helps our department train the next generation of leaders who will understand, anticipate, and address the critical environmental and social challenges of our time.

Please join us in empowering students and advancing knowledge that shapes a healthier, more sustainable world.
