Whose stories get told and whose are left out? At Hunter’s Department of Africana, Puerto Rican and Latino Studies, the histories and contributions of Black, Puerto Rican, and Latino communities are not marginalized. They are central. In a moment when these narratives are too often erased or overlooked, this work is more urgent than ever. Through an interdisciplinary curriculum spanning the humanities and social sciences, the department equips students to critically examine the forces that shape race, identity, and power, and to challenge how knowledge itself is produced and shared.
