The Cathy Hughes School of Communications is thrilled to kick off a year-long celebration honoring the 50th anniversary of the Howard University Multicultural Media Academy! Join us as we commemorate five decades of excellence, impact, and storytelling!. The Academy is the longest running program of its kind in Washington, D.C. As we mark this incredible milestone, we invite you to help us continue this legacy.
The academy will run from June 20-July 3. This summer, our scholars will investigate the root causes of poor health outcomes in communities of color — a topic that urgently needs more thoughtful, community-based coverage. Through mentorship, workshops, and real-world reporting, students will learn how to tell powerful, impactful stories.
๐ Matching Opportunity: After we raise $10,000, an additional $10,000 will be unlocked thanks to a generous matching gift.
That means your contribution today brings us closer to unlocking even more support for our students.
Your gift will help us:
- Offer this life-changing program free-of-cost to all admitted students
- Cover meals, transportation, equipment, and supplies
- Provide student stipends to reduce financial barriers
- Bring in professional journalists as mentors and instructors
Every donation brings us closer to our goal — and helps shape a more inclusive future for media and journalism.
๐ Donate now to invest in the next generation of truth-tellers.
