๐ง๐ฝโ๐ฌ CHEMISTRY: Expand the supply of chemistry equipment available for students
$3,600 โ 1 SPECTRONIC™ 200 Spectrophotometer and 1 Cole-Parmer™ MP-250 Series Digital Melting Point Apparatus
Support HCC Students enrolled in Chemistry classes by helping us secure two items that will allow us to increase the number of functioning equipment in our labs.
โIt's been the Chemistry Department's goal to have as many instruments as possible so students have a better hands-on learning experience. When students get to use real lab equipment, it adds excitement to their learning experience. Oftentimes the department budget isn't enough when instruments need to be replaced, so having this type of support is so valuable to the department.โ
- Derek Swist (Chemistry Laboratory Technician)
The first item is a Spectronic 200 that helps students measure the concentration of substances in solutions, like figuring out how much dye or chemical is present. The second is a melting point apparatus that heats up a tiny sample of a solid to see at what temperature it melts into a liquid.
Your donation will replace a malfunctioning Spectronic 200 and purchase a new melting point apparatus so that students will not have to wait as long to analyze their samples.
The Impact:
- turn abstract ideas in chemistry into real, hands-on experiences
- learn how to collect data, analyze results, and relate their observations to real-world applications
- understand concepts like concentration, purity, and chemical identification
โUsing instruments adds another level to the student's learning experience through a hands-on approach. Having more of these available means students stay engaged rather than waiting for their turn.โ

$3,600 โ 1 SPECTRONIC™ 200 Spectrophotometer and 1 Cole-Parmer™ MP-250 Series Digital Melting Point Apparatus
You have secured TWO items for HCC chemistry students that will allow us to increase the number of functioning equipment in our labs to meet the needs of our students.
With the addition of the Spectronic 200 and a new melting point apparatus, students will turn abstract ideas in chemistry into real, hands-on experiences. Additionally, they will learn how to collect data, analyze results, and relate their observations to real-world applications.
Thank you. ๐
