The Tower Light

The Tower Light is a student-operated creative writing publication that accepts poems, short stories, and visual art, publishing chosen submissions in a magazine each semester. Students are given the unique opportunity to submit their work and receive feedback before submitting a final draft for evaluation by the editors for publication. This means that Hillsdale students with a passion for the arts can bring their work into the community, finding support and encouragement in their personal creation—even if their work is not ultimately selected for the magazine. This places inherent value on the act of creation itself, whether the student’s work is published or not.

This semester, we’re campaigning to expand Tower Light’s influence on campus. Our main goal is to raise sufficient funds to support Tower Light operations and host professors or visiting writers for creative writing workshops to support our students.

Additionally, our publication budget is insufficient to meet our students’ desire to create. Each semester, we receive far more worthy submissions than we are able to publish. Additional funds would allow us to print a longer magazine to honor these students’ work.

Finally, we would allocate a larger advertising budget to posters and flyers to raise awareness of Tower Light’s artistic community.
