My Gold Award project is titled Finding Joy and will be an original publication targeted to girls ages 12–17. I hope to create a tool to help them work through some of the issues they face—like bullying, depression, and body issues.
I plan to use my own artwork and create a hybrid between a graphic novel and a journal that will include prompts that invite readers to complete reflection exercises, take moments of thoughtfulness, and to add notes or journal about their feelings. The back of the book will include resources for help and further reading.
By donating to my project, you will help me print my book and get as many copies as possible out to girls.

I got word yesterday that my final project report was approved and I can now say I am a Gold Award Girl Scout. Thank you so much for your support. Finding Joy could not have had such a wonderful reach without you.

You can't see all 41 boxes behind me, but they are there! The printing turned out great and I am very happy. Last night I had my first opportunity to hand out books at a city event and it was fantastic. The feedback and reactions were more than I could have asked for really. I can't wait to distribute the other 40 boxes worth! Thank you all again so very much for supporting my project. Please reach out to me if you know of any organizations/schools/clubs that might make a great partner. The target audience is girls 12 and up. Again, I am so grateful to you all. Liliana

On September 1st 3,000 copies will be delivered to our house.
All thanks to you. Can't wait to share these with other girls.
In my original plan, I estimated I could print up to 1,000 copies of Finding Joy. Today I ordered 3,000 in full color thanks to everyone's generosity. Thank you so much. I'll update you again when they deliver. This is a link to the book so that you can have a sneak peek:

The printed proofs are here and I'm really happy with the color and quality. Now to decide on a final quantity!
1368 days ago by Liliana McGeeAfter months of research, writing, and art-making, Finding Joy is almost a book! 40 pages and 4 proofs later, we are close to printing. Right now we are starting peer review and testing. It's been months of hard work, but I am very happy with the results so far. More to come soon. Thank you so much for your support. Liliana

With only hours to go on the campaign, I am beyond thankful to the 67 people who made donations. This has been a success on every level. With just over $3,000 raised, color and extra pages are a lock. And the quantity looks to be at around 800, but don't quote me. I'm so happy and grateful.
Over the next months I'll update you with the progress and eventual completion of my project.
Thank you so much everyone.
Wishing you peace, love, and joy,
Liliana

I'm so thankful today. We broke 50 donors and 50% of the goal. My parents are offering a donation match for my bday too. This is a piece I did of my friend Alyssa. If she gives me permission, I think it could work in the section about isolation. I am so grateful to you all. Liliana

I made this piece to reflect anxiety. And with this week in the world, it seems kind of perfect to post it. But, this scream is also the way that I feel having this campaign break $2,000. Thank you so much! 43 donors is astonishing. The way people have shared and contributed let's me know my project is something positive and needed.
Humbled by your generosity,
Liliana
I can't believe we are 1/3 of the way to the goal already.
Thank you so much to everyone.
Here is another piece of mine.
We are only $545 away from breaking another record. Please share this campaign with anyone you think might be want to be involved with this project. Many thanks again, Liliana
1652 days ago by Liliana McGeeI am more than moved by the number of donations so far. My campaign is the largest they have ever approved, so going into this I was very nervous. But, today we tied for most donors on a GSCNC campaign and we still have 26 more days to go, so now I am hopeful we can do it.
Someone recommended to my mom that I post pictures of my art. I'm not going to lie, I like this idea. I created this eye for the section on depression.
More to come!
Thanks for donating and please consider sharing my campaign out to friends and social media.
