About

Fordham’s Social Innovation Collaboratory is a university-wide initiative of the Office of the Provost where students create novel, measurable, and lasting impacts on some of society’s most difficult sustainability challenges. Student-led experiential teams called “practica” are mentored by faculty, alumni and corporate/non-profit partners. Faculty social innovation research is supported by student assistants. Topics currently include these, among others:

  • Sustainability practices in the fashion industry;
  • Financial inclusion of low-income populations into mainstream banking services;
  • Resettled populations being integrated more fully into higher education institutions;
  • Promoting low carbon urban mobility through greater adoption of electric vehicles;
  • Urban food deserts and the need for greater venture capital into these markets

The Collaboratory needs your support for staff and faculty stipends, student salaries, network/conference travel opportunities, and event support. Help us reach our goal of 100 donors!

We are thrilled to announce an additional project in conjunction with Fordham's Young Alumni Committee:

Fordham Social Innovation Collaboratory’s Financial Inclusion Practicum exists to explore, implement and track innovative solutions that promote financial wellness for underrepresented communities in New York City with a focus on the neighborhood surrounding Rose Hill.

The Young Alumni Committee seeks to raise $1,000 specifically to fund incentives to encourage Bronx residents to utilize banks and participate in field research. Collecting data is the first step in our project to empower these unbanked communities, live Fordham’s mission of being men and women for others, and demonstrate that New York truly is our campus.

To give specifically to this initiative, please select the "Financial Inclusion Practicum - Young Alumni Committee" designation.

Thank you for giving!
