ABOUT

The Annual Fund Challenge was launched in response to COVID-19 which is having a devastating impact on the health and economic stability of many in our community.  Over 100 Fordham Prep families will have difficulty making their son's tuition payments due to job loss and financial hardship.  Our priority is to help these families now and to prepare and provide for increased financial aid needs for next year so that no student will have to leave the Prep because of  a COVID-19 related financial situation. The Challenge campaign also funds operational needs in support of Prep academic programs and initiatives plus the newly expanded services and equipment now required to ensure a healthy and sanitary environment for all our students.

The Fordham Prep community has always responded in challenging times and instilled in its students a commitment to serve: "to whom much is given much is expected." Now more than ever, we ask that you demonstrate that commitment today through a gift to the Annual Fund Challenge.  Our Annual Fund Challenge campaign goal is to raise $800,000 by the end of our fiscal year on June 30. Thank you.

MAKE A GIFT

Make an Annual Fund Challenge gift that is meaningful to you and your family.  Do it in honor of someone special or to celebrate the Class of 2020.  Our seniors have proven their commitment as "men for others" by redirecting their Senior Class Gift to help their fellow Rams whose families have been affected by the pandemic.  Honor these remarkable young men who have missed many senior spring events and yet maintained a positive attitude while staying remotely connected to their teachers, coaches, mentors and classmates. Their resiliency, creativity and work ethic throughout their final months of high school are to be commended.

A Fordham Prep Family Asks For Your Support

Over the last few weeks you have heard from alumni, trustees, parents and students asking for your help during the Annual Fund Challenge. With the Prep's fiscal year ending tomorrow, June 30, the Fink Family '80, '08, '10, '13 wants you to know why supporting the Prep is important to them

We hope that everyone who is able will consider a gift, either outright or through a recurring gift subscription, to support the Prep as we prepare to bring the classes of 2021-2024 back to school in the fall. Every gift, in any amount, matters to the students who will benefit from your generosity in so many ways.

Alumni from the 1980s Continue to Rise to the Occasion

Following the example of his fellow 80s Rams - Chris Healy '85 and Anthony DeMartino '85 - Vince DonVito '82 is asking Rams of the 1980s, and the whole Prep community, to support the Annual Fund Challenge today!

The Annual Fund supports every aspect of Prep life - academics, athletics, activities, arts, and much more. Your support of the Annual Fund Challenge will help ensure that every Prep student is able to experience the all-encompassing education, grounded in faith, scholarship and service, which the Prep proudly provides.

Fordham Prep's Fiscal Year ends on June 30, and we are asking all who are able to make a contribution to the Annual Fund this year to ensure that the Prep is able to honor our promise that all students will have the full Prep experience in a healthy environment this coming fall.

A Message from Prep Trustee Mary Ellen Coyne P '18

Trustee Mary Ellen Coyne's experience with Fordham Prep spans generations - her father Richard O'Hara is a member of the class of 1947, and her son Drew Coyne graduated in 2018. She speaks with pride of her son, now studying at Vanderbilt, and attributes his success to his experience at the Prep. As you can see, the Annual Fund helps the Prep create opportunities for all of our students.

As we approach the end of our fiscal year on June 30, we are pleased to report that, in addition to unlocking the 60s for $60,000 Alumni Challenge, we have also surpassed the goals of both the Community and the Long Maroon Line Challenges!

Please consider joining Mary Ellen and her family, and the hundreds of parents, alumni and friends of the Prep who have supported the Annual Fund Challenge with a contribution.  Now more than ever, every gift counts.

Generations Unite to Support the Annual Fund

The Healy family has been a part of the Fordham Prep community since 1981 when Chris '85 first arrived on Rose Hill. Since then, Chris's sons, John '17, Colin '21, and Thomas '24, have joined their father as part of the Long Maroon Line. This week, the Healy's talked about their love of Fordham Prep and the importance of supporting the Annual Fund Challenge.

Right now, the impact of an Annual Fund gift can be multiplied through one of several challenges! #FordhamPrepForward

Two Generations of Murrays Challenge You

Across the decades, the Long Maroon Line of Prep alumni include the Murray family - Peter '63, Vincent '98 and Michael '01.  During the final weeks of the Annual Fund Challenge they hope you'll join them to support current Rams, and help them return to campus in the fall.

Additionally, in a wonderful gesture of generosity, seven alumni - spanning classes from the 1950's - 1990's have joined together to offer a series of match incentives through June 30.  Together, if these match challenges are met, it will unlock a transformative $300,000 gift to the Prep.

The need to have alumni, parents and friends support the Annual Fund, while always a priority, has taken on more urgency. As of today, we are aware of over 100 Prep families, over 10% of our student body, who are unable to make their last tuition payment this year and will have difficulty making their son's tuition payments next year as well.  And we know there will be more.  Our mandate is to help these families now and to prepare and provide for increased financial aid needs so that no student will have to leave the Prep due to their financial situation as a result of COVID-19.

So, please look over our match challenges and help us unlock one or more of these additional gifts today and increase the impact of your own donation.  Now more than ever, Fordham Prep needs the support of its entire community.

"The Prep is a Bronx school with Bronx roots..."

The long maroon line of Prep graduates, extending back to the 1960's, recently rallied behind the Class of 2020 to congratulate and welcome them into the Prep alumni fraternity. Their support continues now, in the closing weeks of our fiscal year, as they recognize the need to help so many of our young men -- 10% of our student body -- whose families have been financially devastated  by the impact of COVID-19. Through "Alumni Challenge" gifts to the Prep's Annual Fund, their generosity will help ensure that our current students will be able to continue their education on Rose Hill and someday join the ranks of proud Prep alums.

Today's message, from Robert Galasso '69, is directed to all Rams, but especially those from the classes of the 1960's. Gifts from alumni, who graduated between 1960-1969 will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $60,000 through the generosity of two members of the Class of 1960. As an additional incentive, all gifts over $100 will be included in a raffle for a gift basket (shipped to your home in July) from an Arthur Avenue institution, Mike's Deli, a recent partner with the Prep in our "Lunch4Life" program, which provided meals to our neighbors on the emergency room staff at St. Barnabas Hospital, during the height of the pandemic.

Mindful of the challenges we are all facing, we respectfully ask for your support today to help us unlock the '60s alumni match and help qualify us for this most timely gift to our students before the end of our fiscal year on June 30.

Jack Bergen '60 & Jack Geraghty '60 Challenge the 1960s Rams

Despite their friendly Army-Navy rivalry, your classmates Jack Bergen '60 and Jack Geraghty '60 have teamed up to offer the Prep an extraordinary opportunity to receive an Annual Fund Challenge grant of $60,000.  To make this gift a reality, they are asking Rams who graduated in the 1960's to collectively donate $60,000 by the end of the Prep's fiscal year on June 30.  If successful, the two Jack's will match that amount, doubling the impact of each gift.

As Jack Bergen explains in today's message, all donations will support tuition assistance for the over 100 Prep students and their families who, in the space of three short months, lost their jobs and businesses and are faced with tremendous financial hardships. The Prep is committed to helping these families, but we need the support of our entire community to make it happen. With the spirit, history, loyalty and sense of brotherhood that come to mind when you think back to your years at the Prep, please support the Annual Fund Challenge and the '60s Alumni Match so we can qualify for this most timely gift to our students -- a Fordham Prep education.

Kevin Hackett '67 With a Message to 1960s Rams

In a year of unprecedented need, we do not want a temporary disruption in family income to prevent our students from continuing their Fordham Prep education. Currently, 45% of our young men received financial aid pre-COVID-19 and now many will need even more support, in order to return to campus in the fall.  Coupled with our additional families who never imagined they would need tuition assistance, our priority is clear. Today's message from former Fordham Prep Board Chair and Hall of Honor member Kevin Hackett '67 is directed to his Prep brothers, the 1,400 alumni who graduated during the 1960s.

Recall your own years and experience at Rose Hill & make a commitment today to support a new generation of Rams.  Help them become a part of the educational and spiritual tradition that is the hallmark of Jesuit education at Fordham Prep.  Now more than ever, the Prep needs the help of its entire community. #FordhamPrepForward.

Luke Daly '21: A Man for Others

One of the pillars of a Fordham Prep education is a dedication to service best exemplified by students like Luke Daly '21. Luke traveled to Tennessee last summer on a Service Immersion trip, is a member of Student Government, a scholarship recipient, and assists his community through Campus Ministry Initiatives.

Supporting the Annual Fund Challenge with a gift before June 30 will help students like Luke continue their formation as men for others, dedicated to serving their community, and making a difference. Now more than ever, your support is critical. Over 100 Prep families have been impacted by Covid-19 and will have difficulty making their son's tuition payment in September, due to job loss and financial hardship.

The Annual Fund Challenge will provide them with financial aid so that every currently enrolled student will be able to remain at the Prep. The Challenge will also fund the newly expanded services and equipment that are required to ensure a healthy and safe environment for all our students. Please join us today with your gift of support. #FordhamPrepForward

Connor Begley '20 wants you to take part!

Connor Begley did not have the "Senior Spring" he was expecting. He found his Golf season cut short, saw an increased demand for his work on FPTV projects as school communication moved digital, and missed out on some live gigs with the Jazz Ensemble. Despite these disappointments, Connor has nothing but gratitude for the amazing teachers and generous supporters who have shaped his Prep experience.

Hear Connor's words of gratitude below, and consider a gift to the Annual Fund Challenge today. Gifts to the Annual Fund provide the Prep with much-needed funds, creating opportunities for each student to improve in the classroom, on the field, in the Arts, and through a wide range of social, academic, and extracurricular clubs. As the Prep continues to see an increase in financial need due to the COVID-19 crisis, the Annual Fund will also help support those families who are struggling to afford tuition payments.

Connor may be moving on to Notre Dame in August, but the Classes of 2021-2024 will need continued support for their teachers, coaches, and activities as the Prep prepares to reopen in the Fall.  #FordhamPrepForward 🐏🐏🐏

Manny Baltazar '21 has a message for the community

Manny Baltazar is a typical Fordham Prep student - which is to say there is nothing "typical" about him.  Like all of his classmates, he has forged his own unique path at the Prep. In addition to his speed on the track, he is a Merit Scholarship recipient, and a member of the Kawaida Club.

Take a moment to listen to his message, and consider a gift to the Annual Fund Challenge today, so Manny and all of his teammates, fellow Rams, and Prep brothers can return to their beautiful Rose Hill campus safely in the Fall.  #FordhamPrepForward
