J. Edward “Red” Cox Memorial Scholarship
The J. Edward “Red” Cox Memorial Scholarship honors the legacy of a beloved St. Augustine leader whose life was defined by sportsmanship, mentorship, and community service.
Red Cox served as the first Director of Parks and Recreation for St. Augustine, dedicating nearly four decades to developing programs that shaped generations of local youth. As a standout athlete and baseball player, he brought the same passion and leadership from the field into his work within the community.
Known as “Coach Cox,” he was more than a leader—he was a mentor and role model who inspired others through his commitment to teamwork, character, and service.
This scholarship supports Flagler College students from St. Johns County who demonstrate strong character, academic commitment, and involvement in athletics or sport-related fields.
