Jim Makowski Scholarship in Accounting
The Jim Makowski Scholarship in Accounting honors Professor James S. Makowski, a dedicated educator whose passion for teaching and mentorship shaped the lives of thousands of Flagler College students.
Over his 33-year career, Professor Makowski made accounting approachable and meaningful, helping students understand not only the technical side of the field but also its real-world impact. His mentorship extended beyond the classroom, guiding students in their academic journeys and future careers.
This scholarship was established by alumnus Ben Platt ’97 and his wife, Cleta, in gratitude for the profound influence Professor Makowski had on his life. It continues to support full-time accounting students who demonstrate financial need and a commitment to their field.
