Hugh Shaw Scholarship
The Hugh Shaw Scholarship Endowment honors the memory of Hugh Shaw, a beloved member of the Flagler College Class of 1983 whose life was tragically cut short just weeks before graduation.
Known for his kind spirit, love of learning, and deep connection to the ocean, Hugh left a lasting impression on those around him. In his honor, family and friends established this scholarship and created the Hugh Shaw Memorial Longboard Classic, an annual event that celebrates his passion for surfing and community.
Since 1984, this scholarship has supported Florida students who are juniors or seniors majoring in Philosophy, Religion, or Social Science, with an emphasis on Youth Ministry. It continues to reflect Hugh’s values of compassion, service, and connection.
