Make a Gift and Support the J. Edward "Red" Cox Memorial Scholarship!
The J. Edward "Red" Cox Memorial Scholarship was established in 1998 through gifts from family and friends to honor the legacy of Red Cox, a beloved St. Augustine resident and dedicated supporter of Flagler College and the local community. Red was the first Director of Parks and Recreation for St. Augustine, a role he held for 37 years, shaping the city’s sports and recreation programs. As an athlete, he was a star catcher for the St. Augustine Saints professional baseball club in the mid-1940s. His passion for sports, mentorship, and community service continues to inspire generations.
Honoring a Legacy of Sportsmanship and Service
This scholarship supports sophomores, juniors, and seniors attending Flagler College who are residents of St. Johns County, maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA, and demonstrate good character. Preference is given to members of the intercollegiate baseball team, students majoring in Sport Management or a related field, and those with financial need.
