Student Veterans Organization

Fairmont State University Student Veterans Organization (SVO) is a student-led group that empowers veterans, dependents, and affiliated students with resources, advocacy, and community support so they can succeed during and beyond their time in higher education. We serve as a centralized hub where student veterans and their families can access essential forms, community support services, and guidance on navigating both academic and benefits-related challenges. Through regular meetings, open communication, and peer support, we create a space where veterans can share experiences, find mentorship, and build a sense of belonging on campus.

The SVO benefits students by hosting mission-driven events that foster community, connect families and supporters, and raise awareness about the strengths and challenges of the veteran community. These events and activities help student veterans build leadership skills, expand their professional networks, and stay engaged with the broader campus and local community. At the same time, our advocacy and outreach efforts help educate non-veteran students, faculty, and staff, creating a more inclusive campus culture that recognizes and supports the contributions of veterans and their dependents both in the classroom and in the community.
