About

Wally Hood was head football coach at Fairmont State from 1984-1991. During his time at Fairmont State, Hood led the Falcons to a 42-35-4 overall record including a 1988 WVIAC Championship and an appearance in the NAIA National Playoffs. Also, during his tenure, he had 32 student-athletes earn first team All-Conference honors and 20 were All-American selections. Additionally, 13 players were Academic All-Americans.

Coach Hood left a legacy at Fairmont State that his family, players, coaches, and fans could be proud of. In honor of this legacy, past players, friends, and family of Coach Hood are raising money to establish a scholarship to be named after Coach Wally and his wife, Irma. This scholarship will provide essential support for a football player in good academic standing each year in perpetuity.
