Gifts to Studio Art contribute to...
Fairmont State University’s Studio Art Program is dedicated to delivering a high-quality, transformative arts education that empowers the next generation of creative professionals. With a strong emphasis on entrepreneurship and community engagement, our graduates leave prepared not only to build sustainable creative careers, but also to uphold the belief that art has the power to change the world—and that artists can and should make a lasting, positive impact in their communities.
Our program lives by this philosophy. Since 2020, our students and faculty have completed 14 murals across six West Virginia counties, bringing color, pride, and a sense of identity to communities throughout the state. This year, we are focusing our efforts on enriching the city of Fairmont, WV, through a collaborative mural project developed with local high schools and business owners. Located on Merchant Street, this “gateway mural” will beautify the rapidly revitalizing district and establish a formal entrance to the city.
Additionally, we are partnering with the city of Barrackville, WV, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the tragic mine explosion that forever shaped the community. Together, we aim to design and construct a formal memorial honoring the miners who lost their lives—creating a lasting tribute that both preserves history and deepens community pride.
Your support makes a difference. Donor contributions to the Studio Art Program have an immediate and meaningful impact, expanding our capacity to engage the public through art while providing transformative learning experiences for our students. With your help, we can continue to show how art not only enriches communities—but also inspires connection, remembrance, and change.
