From coast to coast, and around the world: we are proud of our Pride!
Last June, the Emerson community showed up with flying colors for the inaugural Pride Campaign, raising over $18,000 to directly benefit our LGBTQIA+ students. This June, we will be celebrating our LGBTQIA+ community again and raising money for the Emerson Pride Fund, with a schedule of in-person and virtual events. We want to continue the momentum of last year and continue to stand up for acceptance, inclusion, and equity, together. We are a community of impassioned individuals who are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment for all. Join us for drag bingo, film screenings, in-person gatherings, panels, and so much more. And when you make a gift from June 18–25, you’ll receive our second limited-edition Emerson Pride pin highlighting our Los Angeles campus - proving that from coast to coast and around the world, our Pride is worldwide.
We cannot wait to celebrate Pride with you! June 18–25 is the time to show our colors and stand together as we proudly support the next generation of LGBTQIA+ Emersonians.

The Inaugural Pride Campaign, which took place June 1 - June 30, 2021, raised over $18,000 for the newly-created Emerson Pride Fund. The Emerson Pride Fund was established to aid the people, programs, and organizations that serve our LGBTQIA+ community, fostering a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all members of the LGBTQIA+ community at Emerson College.
This past year, the Emerson Pride Fund has played an integral role in bringing the queer community on campus, together. This was even more impactful after the challenging last few years that our students, faculty, and staff have faced. Under the direction of the Office of Intercultural Student Affairs, the Emerson Pride Fund aided in:
- Furthering discussions on Intersectional Solidarity through the Social Justice Academy with model, YouTuber, and LGBTQ+ activist Chella Man
- Celebrating the successes of LGBTQ+ graduates through the Lavender Graduation Celebration (a special graduation ceremony & reception recognizing graduating, self-identifying, LGBTQIA+ students of all races and ethnicities-- acknowledging their achievements and contributions to the Emerson community)
- Reestablishing EAGLE’s (now Emerson’s Advancement Group for Love and Expression) presence on campus and celebrating queer prom
- Providing cords and support for the Rainbow Reception (a celebratory reception before graduation where students receive their rainbow honor cords for commencement)
- And supporting Theyta, EAGLE, and Spectrum in various ways throughout the year
As we look forward to this coming year and the various ways in which we hope to support LGBTQIA+ students on campus, we hope to continue providing the above support, while ramping up new events and initiatives. Goals for this next year include:
- Continuing the successes of programming from this past year
- Ramping up the reach of EAGLE’s Queer Prom to reach a larger audience across campus
- Bringing more people to campus to speak via the Social Justice Academy
- Getting Emerson representation at The National Conference for LGBT Equality: Creating Change (a skills-building event for the LGBTQ community and our allies)
- And so much more!
DON'T FORGET: When you make your gift to the Emerson Pride Fund this week, you will receive a one-of-a-kind Emerson Los Angeles Pride pin as a 'Thank You' for your support!
