The Team

At SUAVE (Swarm Unmanned Aerial Vehicles using Emergence), we are on a mission to harness the power of emerging technology to revolutionize the way we interact with our world. Under the guidance of Principal Investigator Daniel Golan, our dedicated team of Embry-Riddle students at the ERAU Engineering Physics and Propulsion Lab is spearheading groundbreaking research.

The Vision and Mission

Our vision is to create a future where fleets of drones equipped with cutting-edge mapping sensors, cameras, and LIDAR technology collaboratively chart the uncharted, making complex tasks appear effortless. With one human operator at the helm, our swarm of drones will operate as a harmonious collective, unlocking unprecedented potential for a multitude of applications.

Our immediate focus is on mapping. By employing cameras and LIDAR sensors, we are crafting intricate three-dimensional maps that transcend boundaries. We hope to employ this technology in a wide array of disciplines. From preserving wildlife habitats in expansive National Parks to precision landscape surveying and constructing detailed models of colossal industrial structures, we are redefining the art of exploration and data collection.

Take, for instance, the Everglades, a vast wilderness stretching over 1.5 million acres in Florida, where 1.3 million acres have remained elusive to conventional monitoring techniques. Our integrated mapping technology promises to cover immense swaths of land in record time, revolutionizing the way we approach conservation, resource allocation, and environmental stewardship.

SUAVE's impact extends far beyond the Everglades. We envision a world where our technology empowers organizations to make informed decisions in real-time, ensuring the preservation of America's magnificent landscapes and ecosystems for generations to come. As we journey into the future, we're committed to expanding our reach and capabilities. We aspire to serve critical sectors such as search and rescue, wildfire prevention, agricultural land surveying, construction, and other essential operations across the United States.
