Prescott Campus Lee Planetarium and STEM Outreach

As the only planetarium north of Phoenix, Arizona, The Jim and Linda Lee Planetarium serves as a one-of-a-kind educational tool and multimedia space within the region. This facility focuses on providing the university with utility in three main areas:

• To enhance the educational experience of Embry-Riddle.
• To inspire the next generation of STEM professionals with curated educational events for K-12 groups.
• To bring nuanced, cutting-edge conversations of science alongside Embry-Riddle’s accomplishments and premiere reputation directly to the public.

Donations made to The Jim & Linda Lee Planetarium will benefit a number of areas. Below is a list of if much needed items that gifts from Day of Giving will help fund.

Planetarium

• $1000: Sponsoring one mobile dome trip to a rural location within Arizona. These funds would cover the cost of traveling with student workers to schools and other educational groups who would benefit from a visit from our mobile planetarium dome.
• $5000: Contributing half the cost of licensing a new planetarium show from an external company for three years of use in this planetarium.
• $10000: Providing a set of wireless AR glasses for live closed captioning purposes. These glasses would be a resource for any audience members who would benefit from seeing the words being spoken during planetarium programming.

STEM Outreach

• $1000: A-frames and professionally designed directional signage for outreach events.
• $3000: Set of iPads and Apple Education Software providing students with the tools they need to explore, learn, create, and innovate in the world of technology and STEM.
• $5000: A small utility vehicle (golf cart) allowing the transportation of engaging, hands-on educational outreach activity materials.
• $7500: A SMART board with a portable stand, accessories, and software to bring interactive, dynamic STEM lessons to students wherever they are.
