The Eastern Echo and the student media team are focused on taking the news operation into the future with an emphasis on multimedia delivery and good old-fashioned, fair, balanced, and meticulous reporting.
The delivery of news is changing, but the work journalists produce is as necessary as ever.
Among The Echo staff's goals are upgrading the tools used to do that job in a modern environment, from gathering the news to exploring cutting-edge platforms for timely delivery.
The plan includes updating the team's podcast studio with cameras and improved soundproofing. It includes acquiring modern digital cameras that capture both still and video images. It also includes purchasing mobile equipment reporters can use to produce timely multimedia storytelling -- along with the words -- for an audience that demands content on multiple platforms.
Multimedia delivery keeps The Echo viable and relevant to the community it has served for more than 140 years.
