ETSU’s Charles C. Sherrod Library isn’t a warehouse for books. The Sherrod provides faculty and students with the collections, spaces, and services needed for their success. The Sherrod also supports ETSU with in-person and virtual research assistance and instruction. The Sherrod’s spaces are a home away from home for many students as their place to learn, to work, to be with friends and to make new ones.
The Sherrod Library also provides many ETSU students with their first ever job. On every floor and in every department, our invaluable student employees work alongside our dedicated faculty and staff, making Sherrod not just the library it is but the library it can be.
A sampling of Sherrod’s initiatives includes:
- Rewarding exceptional student employees with scholarships.
- Leading the university-wide program to loan 200 laptops and Wi-Fi hotspots and providing individualized ‘personal librarian’ services to all students needing support for their virtual learning.
- Growing collections of electronic books, streaming videos, and instructional resources such as virtual human anatomy models, to supply faculty & students with digital resources required to transform classes, both on-campus and virtual.
- Expanding our online chat-with-a-librarian services to 24/7.
- Working hard to keep education affordable. Investments in open textbooks and other no-cost online instructional materials saves students approximately $200,000 a year in textbook costs all while providing access to books for both in-person and virtual learning.
Giving to the Sherrod Library helps us help everyone. If you have any questions about the Sherrod Library or how you could contribute and be a part of our service to ETSU, please contact us at LibAdmin@etsu.edu or at (423) 439-4307. Godspeed and Go Books!
