This year, we are focusing on two efforts. The first is raising funds to support experiential learning opportunities for honors students! Participating in these hands-on academic experiences provides a strong foundation for success in the 21st century. Experiential learning includes internships, study away and study abroad, research, and the Honors College's "Place as Text" course, which takes students out into Johnson City, as well as to major cities around the world to grapple with juxtapositions such as "abundance/scarcity," "insiders/outsiders," and "past/present" through small group walking tours.
Additionally, we would like to raise funds to help us celebrate our Honors graduates with a special graduation banquet. If you would like to sponsor a graduate’s banquet meal, you can do so for a $30 donation. You may support as many graduates as you like – we have 101 students graduating in May.
If you're an Honors College alum and want to help fund experiential learning opportunities, please donate to the Honors Alumni Endowment fund.
If you’re an alum or a friend of the Honors College and want to donate a banquet meal for a graduate, please choose the Honors College fund (general). Friends of the College who want to support experiential learning should also choose the Honors College general fund.
Finally, If you want to sponsor a specific student or want to have your banquet sponsorship to be recognized at the event by a place card and a mention in the program, please email Karla Leybold, Assistant Dean for Student Life, at leybold@etsu.edu.
