About

The College of Public Health provides an exceptional educational experience in a world-class environment with degree programs at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. Offering the highest US News and World Report ranked program at ETSU, we prepare our students for the healthcare challenges of tomorrow.

In Environmental Health, students learn the complex science behind some of the most important and timely environmental challenges facing a diverse and changing world.

In Health Services Management and Policy, students are challenged to understand the complex healthcare industry and health policies while preparing to administer hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare organizations.

Students studying Community and Behavioral Health examine the social determinants of health and related public health interventions that contribute to improving the wellbeing of individuals and communities.

Students who pursue training in Biostatistics and Epidemiology learn the skills necessary to monitor risk of disease in populations. COVID-19 has demonstrated the essential role public health professionals play in battling epidemics.

The fastest growing major in the college is Health Sciences where students undertake a broad study of human health, microbiology, and anatomy and physiology. Many of these graduates enter medical, pharmacy, or other health-related graduate or professional programs.

The College of Public Health is also home to the Tennessee Public Health Training Center and the Tennessee Institute of Public Health which promote collaboration with community, professional, and academic partners. We are committed to building strong, relevant programs carefully aligned with workforce needs.

Our students have the opportunity to learn through nationally-recognized research centers and programs. The Addiction Science Center focuses on substance abuse prevention and treatment. Our Center for Applied Research and Evaluation in Women's Health (CARE Women's Health) specializes in women's reproductive health research. The Center for Rural Health Research addresses social inequalities in rural communities in Tennessee and across the nation. And, Project EARTH has been recognized as the most innovative Public Health curriculum in the nation.
