In the wake of Hurricane Helene, East Tennessee State University has activated critical support systems to help rebuild and recover as a community. The Buccaneer Student Crisis Fund, Bucky's Food Pantry, and the ETSU Employee Assistance Fund are here to provide immediate relief for students, staff, and faculty affected by this devastating storm.
The Buccaneer Student Crisis Fund (BCSF) is a vital resource for ETSU students facing unexpected hardships, especially in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Made possible through the generosity of donors, this fund has distributed more than $200,000 since its creation in 2019.
These funds provide essential support for:
Emergency food, clothing, and housing assistance
Technology, books, and school supplies
Travel costs for urgent situations
Critical expenses like rent, utility bills, and car repairs
Any currently enrolled student facing extenuating circumstances is eligible to apply. The Dean of Students Office, in collaboration with the ETSU CARE Team, carefully reviews each request to ensure that students receive the support they need.
Bucky's Food Pantry is open and ready to assist students and staff during this time of need. In response to the needs of our community, the pantry has expanded its services:
The Buc Ridge pantry site now offers a limited selection of street clothes for students and extended hours at the Culp Center location for easier access.
Food items can be requested online for pickup at three convenient locations:
Buc Ridge Housing area, near the Central Receiving warehouse at 325 Treasure Lane
D.P. Culp Student Center, next to the Passport Office
ETSU Kingsport Campus
Please check the website for updated hours and additional resources as we adjust to meet the needs of the semester. We also want to thank our dedicated volunteers, interns, and student workers who make this possible.
The ETSU Employee Emergency Assistance Fund provides emergency financial relief for faculty and staff members facing crises, including home loss, personal injury, or the death of a loved one. This fund exists to ensure that our employees receive the support they need during life's most challenging moments.
By supporting these initiatives, you can directly help members of the ETSU community rebuild and recover. Every donation makes a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Thank you for standing with us in these difficult times. Find out more information here https://www.etsu.edu/response/
