Young Alumni Challenge

If 1,000 young alumni gifts to any purpose from the classes of 2014-24 are made on or before April 1, 2025, Karen Dougherty Buchholz '88 will generously donate $50,000 to scholarships.

With a passion for giving back, Karen Dougherty Buchholz '88 has launched the Young Alumni Giving Challenge, encouraging recent graduates to give back to Dickinson.

"I know that Dickinson has made a huge difference in my life, and I hope it has for you as well," says Buchholz, an executive vice president with Comcast. “My hope is to inspire you to join me in taking pride in ownership in the Dickinson experience."

To ensure Dickinson can continue to provide the same life-changing experience for future students, she is challenging 1,000 graduates from the classes of 2014 to 2024 to make a gift by the end of the day April 1 (Dickinson's Day of Giving).

If this goal is met, Buchholz will donate an additional $50,000 toward scholarships at Dickinson. She emphasizes that every gift, regardless of size or designation, will contribute to this challenge and have an even bigger impact.

“That means your gift, no matter its size and no matter where you direct it, has the potential to make an even bigger impact this year,” says Buchholz, who previously spearheaded a successful young alumni challenge for Dickinson's 2023 Day of Giving. “Together we can make sure this powerful education continues to change lives and shape tomorrow's leaders—the same way that it did for you and me.”
