Swim and Dive

Lap after lap, Prep continues to make great strides (or, more accurately, strokes) in its swimming program.

Your gift will help further ensure its success, providing support for additional athletic training, transportation, ancillary equipment, meals and other items that benefit the swimming team.

Teams: Varsity (typically 32-36 student-athletes)

• Since 1996 the Prep swimmers and divers have undertaken a travel meet to give the student-athletes a chance to find great competition in some of the best aquatic facilities and venues in the country.
• This approach has helped to give Prep swimmers and divers a great memory for their seasons.
• We’ve gone to, in chronological order: Kansas City Central High School, Federal Way (Seattle), Washington, Saint Xavier High School (Louisville, Kentucky), Hinsdale Central High School (Chicago), Seattle again, and the University of Minnesota Twin Cities (Maroon & Gold Invite).
• These trips have helped break up the season in two segments. (It can be a long haul of hard work, so having these to look forward to has been valuable.)
• They have also helped the guys bond more closely through everything that comes with them, e.g., the bus ride, field trips, dinners and overnights.
• We strive to stay on the leading edge of training through the best equipment and learning devices to give the guys the best opportunities to improve. Underwater video, a variety of training equipment, both in the water and for dryland training, are essential elements of our training program.
• Prep swimmers and divers, starting with the big state title in 1969, have been at or near the top of the state regularly since then. They have also won an unprecedented 24 team state championships since 1996.
