Judy Davis believed in the transformative power of education—and in the promise of every Columbia College student.
As a trustee, mentor, and champion of the College, Judy dedicated her time and energy to ensuring that students had access to the opportunities they needed to succeed. She saw potential where others might not, and she took action—investing in young women (and now men) who were ready to lead, serve, and shape their communities.
Today, the Judith M. Davis Leadership Scholarship continues that mission.

About Judy:
Judith M. “Judy” Davis was a visionary leader, dedicated public servant, and passionate champion for Columbia College and the Midlands community. As Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and its Companion Companies, Judy brought exceptional intellect, strategic leadership, and integrity to every role she held.
Her impact extended far beyond the boardroom. Judy served on the Columbia College Board of Trustees—including as vice chair—and remained deeply engaged in advancing the College’s mission of empowering students to lead lives of purpose and impact. She was also an active mentor and a dedicated supporter of students, helping to identify and uplift young women with talent, drive, and a commitment to leadership.
Across the Midlands, Judy’s influence was profound. In addition to Columbia College, she held leadership roles with organizations such as United Way of the Midlands, Central Carolina Community Foundation, EngenuitySC, and Palmetto Conservation Foundation, often serving as board chair and guiding transformative initiatives. Her leadership helped raise millions of dollars for community needs—including a landmark $9.5 million United Way campaign—and strengthened countless organizations working to improve lives across South Carolina.
What set Judy apart was her belief in people. She was deeply committed to mentoring emerging leaders, encouraging civic engagement, and helping others realize their potential. Her legacy is one of service, leadership, and a steadfast belief that investing in others—especially students—can change communities for the better.
The Judith M. Davis Leadership Scholarship at Columbia College honors that legacy by supporting students who reflect Judy’s character: driven, compassionate, and committed to making a difference.
