The Colorado Natural Heritage Program (CNHP) tracks Colorado’s biodiversity. CNHP works with state agencies to help protect rare plants and invertebrates where oil and gas development is occurring. The Energy and Carbon Management Commission has rules for oil and gas development, and those rules will be amended to include rare plants and invertebrates. CNHP seeks to develop new models and curate data to support decisions about sites for oil and gas development with these new rules.
