We are Zenith Ultimate!
We are Zenith Ultimate, Colorado College’s gender inclusive Ultimate Frisbee team. Since our founding in 1992, we have been a passionate group of spirited players who strive for excellence not just on the field but also within our team and community. We work hard to uphold our team goals of growth, accountability, social justice and zest (which we describe as a combination of playfulness, fun, competition, drive, and grit)!
Another large part of our commitment to Zenith is accessibility - we hope to ensure that every player is able to travel and compete with the team, regardless of their financial situation. The money raised through this crowdfunding campaign will go toward flights, ground transportation, accommodations, uniforms, and our coaching staff. To lower the financial barriers to playing and competing with Zenith, we have set our goal at $7,500 for this spring semester. We are so thankful for the support of friends, family, and alumni to help Zenith reach our goal to allow us to carry on and spread our love of Ultimate!
What we do
As a small college frisbee team, Zenith competes in USA Ultimate’s Division 3. We also welcomed in a large group of rookies this fall, who have all learned so much and developed their skills since joining the program! We are stoked that our community has grown so much in the past year and have made the decision to split the team into two smaller teams, the More Competitive Team (MCT), and the Less Competitive Team (LCT). While we continue to be one larger program and community, the two teams allow for players to have more playing time and have different goals surrounding Zenith. However, the two teams also means that we have to cover double the fees, and makes fundraising even more important to keep Zenith accessible.
So far this spring, both teams attended Snowmelt, a tournament we hosted in Colorado Springs, where the MCT took first place! This was the first tournament that the LCT played in, allowing for the team to build a ton of chemistry, and giving experience for growth and learning. Zenith MCT has also competed at D3 Grand Prix in Portland, notching wins against high level teams, and Centex in Austin, where they beat regional rivals Trinity! These tournaments strengthened our team both on and off the field. As we reach the peak of our competitive season, we are committed to our team goals and ensuring that participation on Zenith remains accessible to all.
Our next tournament is Regionals in Kansas City, MO, and we are so excited that both the MCT and the LCT are able to attend! At this tournament, we will face high levels of competition against other teams from our conference, as the first-place team after this weekend will earn an invitation to DIII Nationals this May. This is a very exciting opportunity for both teams to play at their best and hopefully earn a spot to compete on the national stage. Without your support we would not be able to participate in so many fun and exciting tournaments!
We also want to share our deep gratitude to our extended community who made our fall and spring seasons so far as successful as they have been. Your support and donations last semester allowed us to travel to places like Oregon and Texas to show off our love and zest while playing at a high level. And an extra special thank you to all of the parents, alums, and other supporters who have traveled to watch Zenith at our tournaments this year and provided housing, food, or other accommodations to make our competitions run even smoother - you all are the best cheerleaders, and we have loved having you on our sidelines!
How to support us
Although we are thankful that the CC Athletics Department helps with some of our expenses, they cannot provide enough for our team to compete in all of our tournaments. Traveling outside of Colorado is expensive, and we want to create an inclusive environment for our rookies and returners alike. Our $5,000 goal will help ensure that every athlete can compete at their best without financial concerns. Your donation helps us keep Zenith Ultimate accessible, fun, and competitive and we appreciate all contributions!
