About

Who we are:

We are the Colorado College Cycling Club! Our goal is to provide an inclusive and welcoming community for people to try cycling or to continue pursuing cycling with like minded friends. We organize bike trips to places like Moab, Monarch Crest, and Crested Butte. Furthermore, we host weekly group rides in the fall and spring as well as host events like club dinners and Mario Kart tournaments.

This year, we transitioned away from club sports and became a Colorado College club through CCSGA. We undertook this change so we could focus more on building an inclusive community and focus less on being a race team. However, we still help members of the CCCC attend and prepare for races.

Overall, we strive to create a fun and welcoming community for all cyclists and future cyclists at Colorado College.

What we stand for:

CC Cycling Revolves Around Community. Our team exists to provide a welcoming, inclusive community for CC students who love two wheels and good times. We stand for increasing access, equity, and diversity in cycling. Our love for two wheels comes with some of the highest barriers to entry of any sport, even within the expensive outdoor sports realm. We strive to alleviate these barriers through our financial aid program, which is generously supported by the donors who back our mission. We have also partnered with Outdoor Education to help us lower financial barriers to entry for cycling.

While our outward activities to increase equity and lower barriers are financial, this mission has been backed by historic organizational changes we have made internally as a team this year. Cycling at CC has exploded in popularity since COVID, and to fill the need of our wide rider base, we transitioned from a results-first structure within Club Sports to a community-committed CC Student Government. While we still are one of the most competitive club teams in the formidable Rocky Mountain Conference, with riders representing Team USA as national champions, our existence does not revolve around race results. It comes from the community that a race weekend cultivates –– the laughs, card games, and team dinners in the Airbnb. This strengthens our community on campus, where we get together every week over a ride and a team-building social. This on-campus camaraderie rallies our team to amazing destinations and shared experiences for a cherished 4 ½ days between blocks, and the cycle continues, with our community welcoming more students with open arms to an increasingly close collection of stoked teammates.

A Day in the Life:

Every year we help organize multiple bike trips. Here is an example of a day on a CCCC block break trip to Crested Butte and how your donation makes this trip possible.

Students excitedly load their bikes onto cars and race for Crested Butte. On the first night there, students gather around the campfire and talk about their plans for the next day. As the night goes on students mingle with new people who soon become friends. The next morning, people organize into three riding groups based on skill level and trail preference. A few hours later people are returning from their epic adventures. Next, everybody shuttles to town to enjoy pizza and talk about the day.

This amazing day is made possible by CCCC and the support you provide. First, CCCC helps organize transportation, making sure every person who wants to come has a ride. Next, CCCC provides firewood and pays for campsites when applicable. With your support, CCCC is able to buy dinner for all who come. Ultimately, your donations allow us to create spaces for community organization and help reduce the costs of cycling related trips with the aim of making cycling more accessible.

How to support us:

Although we receive a small budget from CCSGA, this is not enough to help us get through the whole year of club-wide trips, events, competitions –– both on and off-road. Cycling is a sport that can often be prohibitively expensive, and your gift helps to lower the cost of competitions, events, and promotes an inclusive community of stoked cyclists! All donations are tax-deductible through Colorado College’s 501(c)3 non-profit status.
