The Colorado College Women's Club Hockey team has faced numerous challenges over the years, primarily due to limited funding and player numbers. Yet, despite these hurdles, our passion for the game drives us to persevere. At the heart of our team lies a commitment to fostering a fun and inclusive environment where every player feels welcome. We aspire to establish a solid foundation for our team, ensuring that it thrives for years to come. However, we can't achieve this without the support of generous donors like you.
Our team comprises a diverse group of players, ranging from those just learning to skate to former high-level club athletes. Despite our varying skill levels, we share a common love for the sport that unites us. In recent years, we have proudly competed in the WACH league against local teams across Colorado. Now, for the upcoming 2025-2026 season, we are setting our sights on joining the ACHA league, where we can challenge ourselves against other collegiate teams. To turn this ambition into reality, we need your help.
As a club sport, we don’t receive the same funding as varsity teams, which has left the financial responsibilities to the players. With costs for ice time, travel, equipment, uniforms, and referee fees piling up, it’s no wonder that funding is a major source of stress for our team. Up until now, our captains have taken on duties typically handled by coaches, including scheduling, organizing practices, and coordinating gameplay. To compete in the collegiate women's club league, we must have a coach on the bench for all our games. Without the funds to hire a coach, our dreams of joining the ACHA league may slip away.
While our team has faced struggles in the past, we remain dedicated to creating an enduring space for future generations of female hockey players—one that can weather any storm.
